December 2005

Commander's Corner
It looks like we will have a good ending for this year. Rents are coming in, event planner is making us money. Our shed is almost finished thanks to the work and donations of the following members. Ken Blair-Jim McKie-Lee Turcotte-Billy Barber-Jim Garcia-Nira Allen-Bob Bourdon-Ernie?-Larry Spencer-
Ed Hernandes-. Also thanks for workers like Frank Blefari-Ralph-Coleatchin-Jim Pachound-Bob Slevin-Don Duggin-
Jim Heath & of course Jerry LaLonde. Thanks to Bob & Nira for the blinds in the office-conference room & hall. Last thanks to all who marched in the Veterans Day parade.

Do not forget our Christmas party for the children on Dec.22 . We need ideas next year for fund raisers. I now have a suggestion box at the general meetings. We will take complaints, or compliments. Lets work together for the post. Lets thank the women's auxiliary for so many things they do for us. They are doing the fund raisers, now it is our turn. I will be going to district meetings. There they give a list of post 1000 group. I have signed up 28 member. At our last general meeting, we had a great attendance, lets all look for new members. Please attend general meetings. Do not forget to attend our children's Christmas party. We will have children from families who's father or mother is the war zone. Support our troops. Let me know if you want more speakers of veterans affairs. Do not forget to tell friends & family that our hall is for rent, we need all the help we can get. Dee Marseguerra has made some great flyers for our post rentals

Membership now stands at 534 paid members. Remember, if you haven't paid your 2006 dues before Dec. 31, 2005, you are DELINQUENT and will lose any continuous membership in the American Legion. Please pay your dues!
I have received a number of inquires asking when all the bricks will be engraved? Well, Ken Kramer, our engraver, has promised to finish the job and is willing to donate any unpaid balance due to the Post. His generosity is welcome and he apologizes for the delay.
The Post officers and active members are overwhelmed and proud of members' response to the "Letter of Donation Request" sent out by Commander Garcia to all our members. The current donation from that campaign is hovering around $12,000. Congratulations to all that have participated. The added funds are a great help in keeping us going until the Hall rentals pick up.

Please stop by and invite your friends to enjoy a lunch at the hall. Linda and Jim are doing a wonderful job with providing a lunch for us and for the public at a reasonable cost.

I remain open for any and all members to call or visit with their questions or concerns. I'm pleased to inform the membership that our finances are looking brighter and with a new and final long-term mortgage loan, we will finally be on our way to better days.

Happy holidays to all of you and to your family. If time permits, please try to come down and enjoy one of the events scheduled in December. My wife and I are especially looking forward to the Christmas party on the 22nd. It will be an emotional evening paying tribute to our troops' families. Try to attend.

Thank You.
